@ iqra Can you tell the details of research project.I have never seen a research paper with more than 7 authors uptill now.You can seach yourself about this. What should be division of number of people if its combined activity of IFMSA, SPWS and AIMC principal.hardly 2 people from each side.

@ iqra and if the project is designed by some other person , others cant be author of project. Read AUTHOR requirements at any website of Internail Journal. Others can only take part as "extras" and can be acknowledgned(thats maximum) and many journals dont publish names of acknowledged people, though some ask for it. To be the author of research, you must be the part of designing the project and subsequently take part in everything from data collection to paper writing. Intellectual work makes you author, not the filed work.

@ iqra thats appreciable. i didnt mean that you shouldnt do this.Obviously everything you do gives you some experince which helps later on. Regarding names in journals and being too junior, i disagree with you. Students in AKU do research work from 2nd year onwards and it gets published with their names aswell ,i think shifa is also doing some work in this regard and they have some elective system aswell. Its just that no one knows abt these things here or perhaps people are just too much concerned about other stuff e.g. substages and other crap. And many journals have separate students section in which articles from students are published. e.g JPMA ,Journal of Pakistan Medical Association. anyway best of luck with the project.

@ Anas and Iqra Good informative discussion. This Hepatitis Screening project is done solely by SPWS and few others are also part of it but no other organization is. This project is to train you people. All thje students participating would be given certificates. SPWS is opening its own research wing. We have got a pool of patients and we can do research as well. The details will be finalized soon.

@ furqan bhai Regarding research wing of SPWS, that would be a great idea. Moreover, SPWS can start a student journal in collaboration with KEMCAANA and it can take experinced students as reviewers and editors.Obviously it can be possible only if its combined effort of undergraduates and post-graduates.But its not as much easy thing to do as it seems. We do have such examples though like Mcgill jounral of medicine MJM is solely run by students.

Moreover the advanatge which we can get from SPWS by opening its research thing that it moves things from individual level to organizational level. We were trying to get finance for a research project but as far as i know UN , planning board of govt ,HEC (all funding bodies) give them to organizations not to individuals so when you do things at individual level , it becomes difficult to conduct it

for example , to get funds from UN for a project, you have to send your last audit report from an independant firm and write a proposal. Its quite simple as compared to dealing with govt funding bodies. But i dont think any society of KEMU like IFMSA ever wrote a proposal or planned things like that.I am not crticizing anybody.I am just telling few options which can be utilized but no one pays heed to them. anyway its really nice to plan a research wing of society.
